We offer a variety of property related services to other businesses and their clients. Coppard Giles work with large and small business with perhaps the most relevant services for this sector being commercial survey, building surveying, architectural and project management.

Our activities where we can assist include projects such as alterations and fit outs relating to office moves, warehouse changes, retail alterations to name just a few examples

Public Sector

Our activity in this sector relates mainly to organising and overseeing refurbishment, development and maintenance building projects. We have various accreditations often required by public bodies including Constructionline and CHAS. In addition we have recently been accredited by West Sussex County Council as one of their Approved Consultants for work on schools and other County Council properties.

We hold and maintain appropriate levels of Public Liability and Professional Indemnity insurance, complying with RICS and CIOB Chartered Building Consultancy scheme requirements. We have successfully completed projects for a variety of public bodies as can be seen from our client list, with repeat project appointments for Moorfields Eye Hospital, Lewes District Council and St Andrews CE High School for Boys as examples.

Undertaking school extension and alteration projects has been a regular part of our business over recent years.  One of our directors has previous experience working for a County Council providing experience and insight into LEA and school direct project requirements.

State school design is guided by 'Building Bulletins' and at Coppard Giles, we have licensed access to the current standards and are familiar with the requirements.

In recent years we have worked with a number of NHS Trusts, both on the south coast and in London. Our role has been design and project management with other roles including preparation of board reports and other areas of property / project advice. In addition to hospital work we also work for GP’s clinics and are happy to provide free initial advice in advance of an appointment.

Healthcare guidance is very important to all areas of hospital and primary care activity and the building infrastructure is no exception. Health Building Notes (HBNs) and Health Technical Memorandums (HTMs) provide much of the detail that new facilities have to comply with. Coppard Giles have a current license to access these documents.

Registered Charities have specific requirements which are set out by the Charity Commission. We can provide services tailored to these requirements in order to meet obligations and maximise the return from property assets. Charitable clients include the Salvation Army, RNIB, Scouts, local churches and others on our client list.

This sector covers both Home-owner occupied properties and groups of residential units such as most overseen by a Managing Agent or private and social landlords. We undertake a variety of roles for managing agents from defect analysis to managing and monitoring maintenance and repair projects.

On owner occupied properties, our services are usually most cost-effective on large scale extensions or new building housing projects.

Coppard Giles always recommend that builders are employed formally with a proper contract and we usually recommend a JCT contract , as they have been successfully tried and tested over many years. You can read more about contracts suitable for Home-owner projects from JCT by clicking on this link.
